Halloween Family Bike Ride

Save the date for the 6th Annual Halloween Family Bike Ride! Featuring community, probably music, a mostly car free curated ride on multiuse paths, bike to bike trick or treating, play and crafts activities. Most people wear costumes. Sometimes even the bikes have costumes.
This ride is only 0.7 miles, the shortest we have ever done. May be especially suitable for self propelled children.
Note The Head of The Charles event is taking place on the same day nearby. While our attendees arrive by bike so are not impacted by car traffic, nevertheless you may want to allow extra time to get to our event.
Parents must accompany children at all times. Children must wear helmets per Massachusetts law.

There is no fee to register, event is open to public, donations are encouraged to support Family Bike Ride operations. We are a parent organized group and the ride has expenses! We receive some support from sponsors but rely on participant financial support as well.
Tentative Schedule:
8:45AM-10:15AM Trick or Treat bag decorations-we expect to have bags that kids can decorate.
9:30AM-10:15AM Our event starts with bike to bike trick or treating at gathering time at Mellone Park. Bring a bag of candy to hand out, stand next to your bike. Kids should bring an empty bag/container to collect candy and go bike to bike trick or treating. Don't arrive too late so you don't miss out on this fun time. We will have limited quantities of extra bags for collecting candy and bags of candy for handing out, we don't want cost to be an issue or for any family to be left out if they forget.
We hope to have live music during this time-we are working on it.
10:15-10:40ishPM Costume fashion show and remarks. Kids (and adults!) walk on stage and get applauded, no contests.
10:45PM The ride is a safe 0.7 mile ride on non car paths in Allston. 3 street crossings will be marshaled.
11:00-12:30PM Play at Smith Park, likely additional time to do trick or treat bag decorating.
There is no group ride back, families depart on their own, but if you need help figuring things out let us know.
