Family Bike Ride - Halloween Ride

we present:

3rd Annual Halloween Family Bike Ride

Sunday October 22, 2023, 9:30AM, meet at Magnolia Park Arlington

(Rain date October 29th)

Registration (one registration per family) is required for insurance reasons: click here. Can be done day of and on a phone but do in advance if you can.

There is no fee to register, event is open to public, donations are encouraged to help us cover our costs. insurance, safety equipment, police detail, artwork, play equipment etc really add up. We are organized by parents, not any government body or company. The estimated expenses for this event total $1,550. Please consider a small donation.

Bring your kid bikes, grown up bikes, cargo bikes, bike trailers, tandem bikes, bikes with kid seats, etc plus some candy to share and an empty bag to collect, for our 3rd annual Halloween Family Bike Ride. A chance to meetup with other families in the area who love to bike. Parents must accompany children at all times. Costumes encouraged!

NEW bring your grandparents (or honorary grandparents), families with grandparents get to ride in front and be cheered on.

Rough schedule, subject to change:

9:30AM-10:15AM Our event starts with bike to bike trick or treating at gathering time. Bring a bag of candy to hand out, stand next to your bike. Kids should bring an empty bag/container to collect candy and go bike to bike trick or treating. Don't arrive too late so you don't miss out on this fun time. We will have limited quantities of extra bags for collecting candy and bags of candy for handing out, we don't want cost to be an issue or for any family to be left out if they forget.

10:15AM-10:30AM Costume fashion show and remarks

10:30AM-11:00AM The ride is a safe 2.9 mile ride along the Minuteman Trail, Fitchburg Cutoff Path, and a carefully planned and managed route through Belmont on a mix of off road paths, protected bike lanes and calm residential streets, with some help from police and cones at key points. Please ride slow, yield to pedestrians, stay to the right, give space to other riders, pass on the left. Parents please coach your kids in these rules.

If you experience a maintenance issue with your bike, talk to one of the volunteers in safety vests, they can radio to our sponsor NEMO, who may be able to assist.

11:00AM-12:30PMish Play at the amazing Joey's Park. Also featuring the Family Bike Ride outdoor play equipment.

Afterwards on your own or with other families, we suggest heading to eat nearby on Leonard St which has pizza, bagels, sandwiches, ice cream, Thai, Mexican, etc.

There is no group return back, for those making a return trip back to Fitchburg Cutoff Path, our police detail will be stationed to help families cross Brighton St until 2:15PM. We suggest going back a different way than we come:
