Schedule:
[PRE event] 9:30AM-11:00AM Is your teen or tween interested in being a zombie? Come during setup time in whatever clothes a zombie might wear (tattered) and we have hired a makeup artist to do zombie makeup on your face. Then zombies can roam the Condon Shell area to entertain people as they arrive or head to route to appear randomly during the ride. Designed to appeal to older kids but not exclusive. Another options is to zombify in a fun non sequitor whatever unrelated costume one has. See photos of makeup artist's zombie work below.
11:00AM-11:45AM Our event starts with bike to bike trick or treating at gathering time at Condon Shell. Bring a bag of candy to hand out, stand next to your bike. Kids should bring an empty bag/container to collect candy and go bike to bike trick or treating. Don't arrive too late so you don't miss out on this fun time. We will have limited quantities of extra bags for collecting candy and bags of candy for handing out, we don't want cost to be an issue or for any family to be left out if they forget.
Also live music during this time from kids singer Matt Heaton and Tufts acapella group Tufts sQ
11:45-12ishPM Costume fashion show and remarks. Kids (and adults!) walk on stage and get applauded, no contests.
12ishPM The ride is a safe 4 mile ride on non car paths in Medford and Somerville. 4 street crossings will be marshaled by a mix police from different jurisdictions and marshals.
12:45PM-3:00PM Dance party with DJ, candy bag decorating, more trick or treating at The Lawn area of Assembly Row. This portion of event is organized by Assembly Row under their event name "Trick or Treat with a Cause" which we will be feeding into (donations of hygiene products for Project Soup are requested). A trick or treat map of area businesses participating is here and printed version will be available that day. There are also lots of establishments at Assembly Row that you can get a bite to eat at.
There will be a bike valet area until 3PM. You can lock your bike to itself but it will be fenced off and someone will be watching over it. You must take your bike by 3. If you don't want to park there you can find bike racks/poles around the Assembly area.
There is no group ride back, families depart on their own, but if you need help figuring things out let us know.
Please coach your kids in bike safety rules
